Imagine being able to move underwater like a fish: with the DeepFoil, that is now possible.
This innovative foil is inspired by the tail fins of whales and operates on the principle of an inverted airplane wing: the greater the speed, the more stable the foil becomes and the stronger the downward force it generates.
Propulsion generated by a pair of standard fins or a monofin becomes more efficient and can be further enhanced through the combined action of both the fins and the foil. Steering is achieved simply by changing the orientation of the wing. Requiring no assembly, the DeepFoil is remarkably easy to use and is suitable for both beginner swimmers and experienced freedivers.
Designed by Emillia Perdigon and Paul François, two young enthusiasts of renewable energy and graduates in architecture and naval hydrodynamics respectively, the DeepFoil is distributed by Nereïs Ocean, their Brittany-based startup.
Key Advantage: Thanks to its buoyancy, the DeepFoil floats back to the surface if released and can also be used as a support while resting on the surface.
