The young Brittany-based company Salt Tenders is offering dinghies made of honeycomb aluminum, no less... This technical material is usually used in aeronautics and superyacht construction, but here it is adapted for our dinghies, which become as light as if they were made of carbon/epoxy composite.
The honeycomb sandwich structure is created using a precision laser welding process inspired by advanced composite methods but uses 100% recyclable aluminum for superior weather resistance and increased durability. Not being built in molds, each aluminum tender can be fully customized to specific requirements. A wide range of options are available, such as wheels for maneuvering ashore, cleats, navigation lights, bow roller, protective covers, rubbing strake, etc. Salt Tenders, with a V-shaped hull for good seakeeping, are available in four sizes: 2.70, 3.20, 3.70, and 4.20 m (8’10”, 10’6”, 12’2” and 13’9”).
