Seiko is celebrating its partnership with PADI, the world’s leading scuba training organization, by launching two new special editions of its Prospex range: the 62MAS and the Samurai. Both new models feature an emerald-green dial that pays tribute to the maritime world.
The Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s watch, launched in 1965, was directly inspired by the Seiko Prospex 62MAS – the very first diving watch offered by the Japanese watchmaker, which has been in business since 1881. The manufacturer is now offering a modern reinterpretation of its iconic model.
Combining technical expertise and eco-responsibility, the 1965 Heritage Diver’s comes with a strap woven from recycled fishing nets using the traditional Japanese Seichu technique, known for its use in fabric design. This additional strap is almost four times more resistant to traction than Seiko’s classic fabric straps and is ultra-UV resistant.
The Prospex Samurai, meanwhile, embodies a more sporty and technical spirit. More compact than the 1965 Heritage Diver’s, it retains the angular and precise lines of the original case. The robust and functional design, and the refined silhouette, evoke the rigor of Japanese martial arts.
