A Mattress Shaped to Fit Our Multihulls

During our test of the Omaya 50 in Genoa, we discovered a rather interesting solution on board from TED Marine: the OZone COCO+, a custom-made mattress designed to fit the sometimes complex shapes of the berths on our multihulls.

The principle is based on a multilayer construction combining HR (high-resilience) foam for support, a layer of natural coconut fiber and Pincore latex foam. The coconut fiber notably provides rigidity and ventilation, two welcome characteristics on board. TED Marine’s documentation also highlights various certified fabrics and materials, including OEKO-TEX and CertiPUR.

But what particularly caught our attention is the possibility of making the mattress to the exact dimensions and geometry of the berth: angles, curves and specific cutouts are therefore no longer an obstacle. A logical approach for the marine sector, where neat 63" × 79" (160 × 200 cm) rectangles are hardly the norm...

TED, a Bulgarian bedding manufacturer, is thus adapting its expertise in foams and multilayer structures to the marine market. Its O-Zone range for domestic use also incorporates HR foam and coconut fibers, with production stated to take place in Bulgaria.
