Some readers may remember the Lagoon 40 MY, a variation of the Lagoon 39 sailboat: this was a powercat designed for cruising at 8 knots with its engines limited to 70 hp, but it was the least successful model in the shipyard's history, with less than 20 examples sold. Why was it so unsuccessful? Because it was released 10 years too early!
Today, boaters are looking for boats capable of covering long distances at 8-10 knots while consuming little fuel. They’re now quite happy to accept that their powercat will not reach 25 knots... Aventura Yachting is therefore offering a version of its 37 sailboat with an elongated stern giving additional buoyancy aft. The rig and deck hardware have been removed, while the motors (still powering saildrive transmission) have been upgraded from 20 or 30 HP to 57, 80, or 110 HP. And although the interior layout remains the same, the design will incorporate a rigid foredeck from hull #2 onwards.
