When they launched their first Windelo 50, the shipyard that specializes in environmentally friendly catamarans announced that larger models were in the pipeline... and now we have news of this 58-footer.
This new model, still equipped with daggerboards, manages to maintain a fairly light displacement and has a manageable sail area - it should be fine to handle without having a professional crew. Having said that, a cabin which is directly accessible from the cockpit, is provided for the skipper. The design, still by the Barreau/Neuman team, is supported by the Stellantis studio: the lines remain close to those of the first Windelos, with slim hulls at the bow and hollowed out at the stern, a very aft-set nacelle, and a helm/maneuvering station at the foot of the mast. Inside, there is curved glazing without uprights and a respectable headroom of 7’2” (2.2 m).
