Fair winds, Charlie…

The sailing world mourns a champion

It is with immense sadness that the Multihulls World team learned of the passing of Charlie Dalin on 11 June 2026, at the age of 42.

A naval architect by training, the Norman skipper leaves behind the image of an exceptionally gifted sailor, universally respected for his talent, humility, and dedication. Beyond the champion, it is the man himself who inspired admiration.

Following his victory in the 2024-2025 Vendée Globe, Charlie had revealed that he was battling a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Despite the illness, he found the physical and mental strength to win the most demanding solo round-the-world race.

Today, the maritime world loses one of its finest figures.

The entire Multihulls World team extends its deepest condolences to his wife, Perrine, their son, Oscar, his family, his loved ones, and all those who accompanied him throughout his career.
