The market for long-range cruising trimarans remains relatively small, so the arrival of a new player in this niche is always welcome news.
The Well 53 project has been developed by the young boatbuilder Welling Marine in collaboration with 3 Lignes Architecture Navale.
Designed for owners seeking performance, ease of handling and long-distance cruising comfort, this trimaran aims to combine the seakeeping qualities inherent to three-hulled architecture - responsive helm feel and limited heel under sail - with some of the advantages traditionally associated with catamarans, foremost among them generous living space.
As such, the Well 53 positions itself as a competitor to the Neel 52 and the Rapido 53XS. Like those models, it features a large habitable nacelle and a full-beam cockpit. Particular attention has been paid to the clean deck layout, designed to facilitate short-handed sailing. The living areas are announced as especially spacious for a trimaran of this size, while the composite construction should keep displacement to 17.5 tons.
Built in limited series, the Well 53 will be offered with a high degree of customization to suit the most ambitious cruising programs.
