Autoprop Eco*Star

A Propeller Specifically Developed for Electric Propulsion

As a follow-up to our article “Hydrogeneration: Which System and Which Propeller Should You Choose?” the Autoprop Eco*Star warrants special mention.

Not only has this propeller been tested for over 10,000 hours aboard the Energy Observer catamaran, it has also enabled a sailboat to circumnavigate the globe without using fossil fuels.

The Autoprop Eco*Star was therefore developed specifically for electric and hybrid vessels, but it also offers significant improvements in terms of economy and performance for diesel engines. This propeller has all the capabilities of the existing Autoprop: it provides as much thrust astern as it does forward, while ensuring maximum thrust at all times, regardless of engine speed, weather conditions, and sea state. There are no controls because the blades automatically optimize their angle. Under sail, the Autoprop Eco*Star offers low drag resistance when its blades are feathered. When engaged, the propeller can produce up to 3 kW – meaning 6 kW for a catamaran traveling at 14 knots.
