At the La Rochelle Boat Show, we discovered a particularly clever little rigid dinghy that offers an alternative to inflatable tenders.
Stable, self-bailing, and unsinkable, the Barket 2.8 can be powered by a regular outboard motor, an electric motor... or the wind! Its sail kit includes a mast, a sail with vertical battens, a rudder, a daggerboard, and all the required hardware. Although the Barket drifts a little to leeward in light airs – picking up again after tacking, for example - it quickly regains its course and is fun and easy to handle. Thanks to a rear hatch, the entire rig can be stored in the hull - a very clever feature!
