Electric Propulsion at Your Fingertips

Already renowned for its BlueSpin 15 kW hybrid system, BlueNav presented its new Outboard 8 kW motor at the La Rochelle boat show. This lighter version is based on the same architecture as the 15-kW model.

According to Denis Réal, R&D Director, “Our specialty is electric motors for sailboats and powerboats. We currently offer two versions: 8 and 15 kW. For multihulls in the ten-to-fifteen-ton range, the 15 kW remains the benchmark.

The motor is retractable and can be rotated through 360°, controlled via a highly accurate 3D joystick. “Using it is child’s play - you turn it, engage the propulsion, and the boat responds instantly,” Denis explained. This steering system is based on a software suite that is compatible with all the display screens on the market and can integrate a Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) and virtual anchor. The latter automatically maintains the multihull's position without anchoring, thus avoiding damage to the seabed and fragile coastal ecosystems, for example in protected marine areas. This silent propulsion system respects the marine environment and promises a duration of up to twenty to thirty hours depending on use.
