US manufacturer Keenan Filters, with its well-established FilterBOSS fuel management systems, is now offering a specialized product for our catamarans - and their twin engines.
CommandBOSS provides complete control and monitoring of the fuel system, in both port and starboard hulls, from the helm station via a comprehensive control panel. This allows the skipper to continue sailing safely without having to stop the engines or enter the engine compartment to resolve the most common maintenance issues. CommandBOSS is capable of switching fuel filters on both engines and balancing the fuel volumes between the tanks. As almost all marine diesel engine failures are related to the fuel supply system, operators can anticipate and, above all, avoid breakdowns.
CommandBOSS can be factory-installed or retrofitted on most models. Pre-wired for plug-and-play installation, the system includes two MK60DP dual filtration systems, port and starboard, mounted on a board, with electrically controlled manifolds, an interface box, a K1000 control panel, and two 13.7-meter (45-foot) interface cables. Installation requires only the fitting of an appropriate filtration system in each engine compartment and suitable piping (transfers between tanks and engine feed).
Note: trimarans equipped with a single engine can of course be fitted with the FilterBOSS system.
