It’s been three years now since Fountaine Pajot launched their hybrid propulsion system. The first model, equipped with two 25-kW electric pods, was the Aura 51.

It was this very first generation that was acclaimed by Dream Yacht, as the charter company ordered a dozen units. This was both out of ecological conviction and to participate in a real-life test of the formula - the most unforgiving test for a sailboat is, of course, in charter work. Today, Smart Electric has become ODSea+, and hybrid technology has taken on a form of independence under the Joool brand. However, we thought it would be a good idea to sail for a week, in real charter conditions, aboard a first-generation Aura 51, to check out the genuine “customer experience” and then share it with you.
