The British boatbuilder specializing in aluminum powercats presented the first images of its very first 100% electric model at boot Düsseldorf.
Based on the Archipelago 40, previously powered by two internal combustion engines or a hybrid system, this 100% electric version has been completely redesigned to house a high-capacity battery system totaling 600 kWh, with 8 kWp of solar panels (integrated into the top of the coachroof, on the side decks, and the superstructures), and powerful 250 kW ePropulsion motors. This model can accommodate up to six people and is designed primarily for Mediterranean-style boating. The vessel is expected to reach a top speed of around 22 knots (compared to 30 for the ICE version).
“The All-Electric Archipelago 40 represents a turning point for our company and for the expedition yacht market in general,” explains Stephen Weatherley, CEO of Archipelago Yachts. “Rather than compromising on performance, we’ve retained all the features that make the Archipelago 40 so renowned and have revisited these features to allow for a zero-emissions future. Thanks to our partnership with ePropulsion and the boat’s design itself, which is compatible with a future extension of its range using methanol power, we are offering owners a truly sustainable craft that is powerful, efficient, and responsible.”
