Excess 13

Fold-down transoms

The news came via the Excess Lab: the brand’s forthcoming model is to be the Excess 13.

The main new thing about this catamaran is the signature it bears. The Lombard design team has been at work here, in collaboration with Jean Marc Piaton for the interior design. “The emphasis is on performance, comfort and style, with an interior bathed in natural light, a functional galley and a layout optimized to maximize living space and storage,” explains the builder. The first images we’ve shared with you highlight a nacelle with contained volume - as evidenced by the very wide side-decks - a galley that opens onto the cockpit, and fold-down transoms reminiscent of those on the HH44. Also noteworthy are the futuristic design of the davits and the imposing span of the folding helm benches. Top marks for the displacement, contained at 10.6 t (the Excess 12 weighed in at 10.3 t): with its Pulse Line rig, the 13 offers a very flattering il area to weight ratio of 11.70 m²/t. And last but not least, a rainwater recovery system has been installed on the coachroof, and the cabin doors double as closet doors. The Excess 13 will be available in 3- and 4-cabin versions with standard or Pulse Line rigs.
