Loopia 290 Family

An Inclusive, Eco-friendly Powercat

Gilles Wagner is a well-known entrepreneur, having previously been the CEO of Privilège Marine. He is now heading up a new multihull project that focuses on the observation that 50% of recreational boaters cover less than 10 miles a day and spend 80% of their time at anchor - a reality which the offerings from European boatbuilders simply do not address.

In the United States, this “new” trend is better catered for by pontoon boats, but these are not designed for offshore use… and are equipped with big, gas-powered outboards. Gilles aims to offer a platform that is just as user-friendly - and even capable of accommodating crew members with disabilities in optimal conditions. But his Loopia 290 will feature a hull designed by Marc Lombard Design Group that is more seaworthy while ensuring a significant reduction in environmental impact, mainly thanks to its aluminum hulls and twin 40 kW electric motors for its propulsion system. The interior layout is limited to benches, an L-shaped galley, and a helm station that converts into a heads compartment. In fair weather, a canvas system allows the powercat to be completely enclosed. Two Loopia 290 Family models are already on order, and this model (scheduled to splash early 2027) will be available in Fishing and Diving versions. A 250 and then a 350 are expected to complete the Loopia family.
