The brand-new shipyard Pioneer Yachts, based in Stralsund on the Baltic Sea in Germany, was founded by engineer Mike Frank, a specialist in energy production from photovoltaic farms.
Unsurprisingly, the first model unveiled is a solar-electric powercat. The PY60 combines the reliability of German engineering with Italian design - exterior styling and naval architecture are by Cossutti & Ganz, while the interior design has been entrusted to Micheletti + Partners. This 18-meter powercat will be capable of a top speed of 11 knots and a cruising speed of 7.5 knots, while offering record-breaking range. The launch of the first PY60, Pioneer One, is scheduled for this summer; the new model will be showcased at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival.
