To be perfectly honest, I hesitated a bit before boarding this brand-new Sea Loft 480 developed by Jeanneau… Why? Because the forward half of this new model is that of a monohull. To justify featuring this boat in Multihulls World, the stern had to be that of a catamaran!
So, it was a « monomaran », tested around the Lérins Islands for a few hours, on the sidelines of the brand's press trials. The Sea Loft 480 presents itself as a deliberately disruptive boat, both in its hull design and in the distribution of spaces and volumes – a large open saloon/cockpit/galley aft and cabins forward, with modularity designed to maintain a spacious owner's cabin at the bow or not. The Sea Loft, intended primarily for hoteliers and tourism professionals working by the sea, allows for the organization of customized outings (half-days, sunset, overnight stays) with particularly low operating costs if one opts for electric propulsion, which offers a range of 15 miles at 7 knots, reinforced by 4.2 kWp of solar panels.
