Announced a few days earlier, the press conference held in La Grande-Motte on the opening day of the International Multihull Show provided the opportunity to formalize an unprecedented alliance between Groupe Beneteau and Fountaine Pajot.
Together, these two industry giants - representing 60% of the global recreational boating market through their brands Bénéteau, Dufour, Excess, Fountaine Pajot, Jeanneau, and Lagoon - have created E-Lektra Marine, a structure aimed at establishing a common standard for electric propulsion and onboard energy autonomy for sailing yachts.
The ambition of this new entity is to accelerate low-CO₂-emission sailing and convert 10 to 15% of the global sailing market to electric propulsion by 2030.
In addition to the expertise of both groups, E-Lektra Marine relies on a capital alliance with Alternatives Energies (based in La Rochelle), specializing in electrical system integration; Cirtem (Toulouse), an expert in energy conversion and management; and EVE System (Lyon), a specialist in battery pack design. The challenge for E-Lektra Marine is not only technological but also economic: by pooling production volumes, this platform - open to other brands - aims to reach the industrial scale needed to make electrification simpler and more competitive.
On the multihull side, models currently in production or being launched - such as the FP41, 44, 48, 51, and the Excess 11 - already benefit from hybrid solutions. In the short term, the Lagoon 55 and 60 will also adopt this technology.
The FP51 is the first Fountaine Pajot model to be offered with hybrid propulsion. Test featured in MW186.
The hybrid version of the Excess 11 will be tested in our next Forever Green special issue.
The Lagoon 60, like the 55, will be among the first catamarans to benefit from the momentum driven by E-Lektra Marine.
