MiniSwitch

A Battery Disconnect Switch Mounted Directly on the Terminal

An American specialist in marine electrical components for over 30 years, Blue Sea Systems, a Navico Group brand, is launching the MiniSwitch, a new compact battery disconnect switch designed to be installed directly on a battery terminal.

The advantage? Eliminating additional wiring while allowing the battery to be quickly isolated, particularly during winter storage or extended periods of inactivity.

A simple turn is all it takes to disconnect the power supply and prevent residual electrical consumption that could discharge the battery. Blue Sea Systems has also fully enclosed the live electrical components to reduce the risk of short circuits, sparks or accidental contact. The housing uses UV- and corrosion-resistant materials to withstand vibrations, seawater spray and prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Despite its compact size, the MiniSwitch is rated for 150 A continuous current and up to 450 A during engine starting. A serrated flange nut secures the cable connections to the terminal. This new product therefore promises a very simple solution for safely disconnecting and isolating our multihulls’ battery banks without making major modifications to the existing electrical installation.
