A bilge pump that kicks in when needed, pressurized water as soon as you open a faucet and toilets that work without waking up the entire anchorage: some equipment knows how to make itself forgotten on board… and that’s generally a good sign! US group Xylem brings together two brands that are particularly well known among recreational boaters, Rule and Jabsco, covering many of these discreet yet essential functions.

For the bilge, Rule offers a wide range of electric pumps, from small automatic models to installations designed to evacuate much larger volumes of water. This is particularly important equipment aboard a multihull which, with its two hulls and numerous technical compartments, can multiply the number of areas that need monitoring.
For fresh water, Jabsco Par-Max diaphragm pumps pressurize the onboard water system and are designed to withstand dry running. As for the Quiet Flush E2 electric toilets, they focus as much on quiet operation as on ease of use and maintenance: touchscreen controls with three flushing modes, including an Eco mode limited to 0.26 US gal (1 l), a macerator pump accessible without tools and, depending on the version, the option of using either onboard fresh water or seawater for flushing.
These are rarely the first pieces of equipment to attract attention when visiting a new multihull, yet their reliability directly contributes to everyday comfort while cruising. Jabsco also covers a much broader range of marine applications, from water systems and engine cooling to pumps and sanitation systems. At the same time, Xylem runs its Watermark program, dedicated notably to water-related issues and communities.
