Shipyards offering hybrid propulsion systems are promising significantly reduced fuel consumption, silent sailing and intelligent complementarity between sailing and motor sailing... all rather convincing arguments that we wanted to test on the water for 24 hours aboard a Leopard 46 Electric Drive.
Our YouTube Short:
Setting out from Saint-Raphaël on France’s Mediterranean coast, we embarked on an unpretentious mini-cruise, where we not only tested a hybrid catamaran equipped with the Joool system (identical to that used by Fountaine Pajot) but also noted the charging and energy consumption. Even the tender – a Highfield 340 E-Propulsion – was electric.
So, did we fire up the generator or not? Find out in our next Forever Green Special Edition #24.
