A good night's sleep for me, and an excellent night of sailing for my catamaran! With 19 knots on the speedometer, I've gained a few places and now find myself around 1,000th position out of 27,000 to 28,000 participants. But best of all, I've taken the lead in my friends' ranking, ahead of my husband and my dad! Admittedly, they're only 14 nautical miles behind me, so I'm enjoying first place while it lasts…
For the next few hours, sailing looks pretty straightforward: a straight course, favorable weather and my virtual skipper's battery at 100%! Luckily, I'd activated automatic routing overnight. Without it, I probably would have missed the 3 a.m. gybe. But over the next 24 to 48 hours, the strategic decisions could become considerably trickier.
You can still join us on Virtual Regatta! Even if you start now, you'll be repositioned alongside the pilot boat accompanying the fleet. Don't forget to use the code multihullsworld to join our leaderboard and compete for the great prizes reserved for the winners. And keep an eye on Brieuc's Multihulls World catamaran: he's a little further back, but knowing the skipper, a comeback certainly isn't out of the question!
Beyond the game, of course, we're also following the real Route du Rhum very closely. Our thoughts are particularly with Armel Le Cléac'h, who was rescued yesterday. We hope his multihull can be brought back to Lorient intact, and we're thinking of all the skippers facing especially challenging conditions. When you see Guirec Soudée hitting speeds of over 40 knots without foils, you can't help but admire the achievement!
See you very soon for the next installment of our Route du Rhum adventure, on Virtual Regatta and the Multihulls World website!
