2023 Sail Buyer's Guide

Multihulls from 60 to 70 feet

Thanks to their habitable volume and deck space far superior to those of an equivalent-length monohull, multihulls in this category offer most of the attributes of serious yachts – we’re talking 80 feet and above here. So whether on two or three hulls, beyond a length of 60 feet, we are at the gates of Superyachting... Exceptional machines that nevertheless require one or more professionals to be on board.

SUNREEF 60

Welcome to the world of luxury

The Sunreef 60 is undoubtedly reminiscent of one of her big sisterships, the 80 - this model of the same generation is in a way the best-seller of the range. The exterior lines bear close resemblance, as does the flybridge, the vertical side windows and the coachroof-bimini shape. The interior (2,420 sq ft/225 m²), the saloon and the cockpit merge into the hydraulic platform, which extends them into a terrace. The cabinetwork is remarkable. The in-house design team has considerable experience in listening to customers: each unit is different. High rigid bulwarks, and forward interior helm station with panoramic view also characterize this model that’s also available in an ECO version.

OE60

The prestigious signature of German Frers!

Since 1958, the Argentinean architect has been designing prestigious racing yachts, but generally monohulls... This contribution in the field of multihulls therefore came as a bit of a surprise in 2014, but also a success as we saw during our test. German Frers also recently designed the Ocean Explorer 72. The OE60 is perfectly balanced at the helm and offers a subtle compromise between performance and comfort. The manufacturer has opted for daggerboards to reduce the draft to less than 3 feet while ensuring excellent upwind capability. The forward door and the helm station at the foot of the mast are two formulas nowadays adopted by most manufacturers of speed catamarans. The Finnish shipyard’s manufacturing and finishing quality is exceptional.

SAMANA 59

An ambitions blue water cruiser

The flybridge of the Ipanema 58 was already exemplary, and the one on the Samana offers incredible comfort with its 320 square feet (30 m²). And the aft cockpit, hardly less spacious, won’t disappoint the first owners either... A proper blue water catamaran for hedonistic owners.
