Aquila 45 Sport

With just 2 to 6 knots of wind and a slight underlying swell, conditions were ideal for pushing this new powercat without getting shaken around too much… although its ability to handle the sea (and wakes) quickly impressed us. With sharper, more angular lines than other Aquila models, the 45 Sport does more than just look the part: it provides a remarkable feeling of safety, even at high speed.

With twin 600 hp Mercury engines on the transom, we recorded a top speed of 45.6 knots. On board, the layout remains very much focused on conviviality, with a table surrounded by a U-shaped bench seat and two fold-down bulwarks that generously widen the cockpit at anchor.

The practical details are particularly well thought out: handrails and lockers are everywhere, while the padded inner faces of the bulwarks prove very comfortable when the powercat starts moving around. Even the optional black headliner makes perfect sense here by reducing reflections. Finally, the cabin and its bathroom make it possible to spend a few nights aboard in good conditions.
