Martinique in a sport cat…

The cream of the F18 and F16 crews met up in Martinique at the end of January for this convivial race, which sails round the island in 6 stages and in optimum sailing conditions for enjoying the performance of their machines. For this fourth edition, the forty or so crews had to leave Le Robert heading north, and return to Le Robert from the south six days later.
We’ll say it again, sailing in the West Indies is a real pleasure. During this week of racing, there was always wind, even blowing at up to 25 knots, to the great delight of the lovers of long flat-out downwind legs. But to get a good result, the crews had to pass between the ‘cayes’, the shallows, and the lobster pots which are always very present on the windward coast, as well as not break anything, and last the distance.
At the finish line, more than the winner’s name, it was the huge smiles on the faces of all the competitors which best expressed the success of this concept, and gave everyone just one desire: to return for the next edition!
