Currently in build at the Fujian Sky Walker shipyard in Zhangzhou, China, hull #1 of the Oceanwalker S60e will be followed by other models with the aim of creating a forever green fleet in the Bahamas, all part of a solar-powered resort.
The S60e is based on the S60 Holyday but swaps its internal combustion power for a pair of 150-kW electric motors optimized to ensure a cruising speed of 7 to 8 knots. A large lithium-phosphate battery bank powers all on-board equipment, including air conditioning, and can count on powerful charging from 10 kWp solar panels. For semi-offshore cruising (the powercat is expected to be certified in CE category B), the S60e will be equipped with two 45 kW diesel generators, extending its range to 800 nautical miles.
