Oman even more committed to sailing

The Sultanate of Oman has in a few years become an essential player in the yacht racing world. The Route du Rhum, then the MOD 70 with Sydney Gavignet, Extreme 40; the Oman sailors are present on all the race courses.

This is certainly what has encouraged the ISAF to choose the Sultanate of Oman to organise the World Junior Sailing Championships in 2016.
These championships, which take place every year, bring together the cream of the young sailors, generally from around sixty different countries. The most famous winners of these championships were Russell Coutts (1981), Dean Baker (1990), Ben Ainslie (1995) and many, many other professionals...
The 2016 ISAF World Junior Sailing Championships will take place at Mussanah, 100 km north-west of the capital of Oman, Muscat. Between now and then, the junior Worlds will take place at Limassol in Cyprus in 2013, Tavira in Portugal in 2014 and Langkawi in Malaysia in 2015... Which just goes to show, you can race and travel at the same time!
