Omaya 53

Even More Space Aboard

With its 50 only just launched, Bulgarian builder Omaya Yachts took advantage of the Cannes Yachting Festival to announce its second model.

The new Omaya 53 builds on the platform originally developed with iYacht; the additional three feet have been concentrated aft in the hulls, allowing the engines and technical areas to be moved further towards the transoms. This solution frees up more volume in the hulls while also moving the machinery away from the Owner’s cabin.

With a beam of 27'6" (8.39 m) and a length of 52'7" (16.03 m), the 53 takes the builder’s “space-first” philosophy even further. The aft cockpit becomes a vast, largely unobstructed area that can be configured with movable furniture as desired. A hydraulic platform can sit flush with the deck, lower to transom level or submerge by around 20" (50 cm). With a capacity of almost 880 lbs (400 kg), it can also accommodate a tender or jet ski. The same principle applies to the flybridge, where most of the fixed sunpads have been removed in favor of a flexible, open space.
In the Owner’s version, the entire port hull is dedicated to the main suite, with a walk-around bed facing the hull-side windows, while two double en-suite cabins occupy the starboard hull. A charter version offers four more equally sized cabins, each with its own bathroom, as well as dedicated crew accommodation.

Another significant new feature is that the 53 will be the first Omaya designed around Volvo Penta IPS propulsion. Twin D6-IPS400s are planned as standard, with IPS450, 500, 600 or 650 options. Current calculations project a top speed of 23 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of 650 nautical miles, figures that will of course need to be validated during sea trials of hull #1.
