After refitting, is industrial reconditioning the next step? Yuniboat has announced the creation at Port Lavigne, in the Nantes metropolitan area, of what it describes as Europe’s first facility dedicated to the eco-reconditioning of boats.

The aim is no longer to treat each boat as an individual project, but to establish a genuine industrial process: standardized diagnostics, dedicated workstations, reuse or recycling of parts and materials, and quality control at every stage.
The approach is obviously intended to extend the lifespan of existing boats rather than replace them or send them for dismantling. Yuniboat therefore aims to reduce the carbon footprint of recreational boating, particularly that associated with the production of composite hulls, while also keeping refurbishment costs under greater control. From small powerboats to sailboats, as well as commercial vessels and, of course, multihulls, Port Lavigne ultimately aims to handle a wide variety of boats using a common methodology.
The choice of location is no coincidence: situated on the Loire, Port Lavigne is accessible by water while remaining close to Nantes, its train station and airport. The project also includes dry storage and wintering facilities to limit deterioration between periods of use.
