Plagued by significant financial difficulties, Silent Yachts has just been taken over by Michael Said, an German-American investor who is himself a customer of the shipyard, since the Silent Yachts 62 3-Deck he ordered is currently under construction. In this context, the launch of the first model will come as excellent news for brand aficionados.
Developed using the Silent 60 as a base, the 62 3-Deck is the brand’s first model with three deck levels. This new model gains 34½” (87 cm) of hull space, but also a 538-square foot (50 m²) flybridge that remains fixed. This generous surface area provides space for a bar, galley, dining table and large bench-seating for 10 to 12 people. The flybridge is of course covered by a vast T-Top, which not only provides protection but, above all, is suitable for installing an optimal surface area of solar panels. But the manufacturer goes a step further than the classic open fly version - which is the one we'll be discovering at Cannes - as this third deck can also be converted into a closed saloon or Owner’s suite.
The drivetrain chosen for this model is identical to that of the Silent 60: despite its displacement now approaching 40 tons, the 62 3-Deck is capable of covering 100 nautical miles in 100% electric mode - at reduced cruising speed, of course. A kite can also be deployed for longer passages at favorable speeds.
