We have already presented this 11.8 by 5.8 m catamaran, powered exclusively by solar energy.
The n°1 in the series is now in the water, and is sailing in the enchanted waters of Bora Bora’s lagoon. A solar boat, which only consumes 2.17 kWh per mile, equivalent to 0.22 liters per mile for an internal combustion engine! With a 120 kWh battery bank, the catamaran has a range of 60 miles at 8 knots. Not counting its 8.6 kW of solar panels… It thus carries its 18 passengers at a maximum speed of 13 knots.
