The Sunreef 88 Ultima, the current flagship of the range with its reverse-angle windshields, did not take the easy route to the Cannes Yachting Festival: built at the shipyard’s new facility in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, the 88 reached the French Riviera under its own power.

The delivery covered some 4,800 nautical miles and notably took it across the Arabian Sea in the middle of the monsoon season. Quite a full-scale shakedown for this new multiyacht even before its European debut in Cannes.
With its 29'10" (9.1 m) beam, the Ultima 88 follows the formula introduced by Sunreef to offer sleeker, faster powercats without sacrificing the generous volumes associated with multihulls. The builder claims a top speed of up to 26 knots. Aft, the fold-down bulwarks and opening garage create the vast Ocean Lounge favored by the shipyard, while the layout of this first unit places a strong emphasis on luxury, notably with a full-beam Owner’s suite forward.
In Cannes, we also discovered Wetra, the new management system developed in-house by Sunreef. Its interface is displayed on a giant screen at the flybridge helm station and centralizes the monitoring and management of the various onboard systems. The builder is already planning to develop Wetra further with AI-enhanced predictive maintenance functions.
