As a runner, Jérôme Leleu is well placed to observe that many sporting trophies and medals are made of plastic. In 2016, he founded Ultime Sport, a company specialising in the production of these items, but this time in wood!
Today, the company produces more than 100,000 beechwood medals and trophies per year for various sporting events. One special feature of the Ultim Sport wooden medals is that they are entirely personalised. High-precision laser cutting machines allow the medal to be made according to precise specifications. A race logo for example, but also texts such as the year or the ranking can be engraved on the medal to make it unique. For example, an award for your skipper for his last ocean crossing. The diameter of the wooden medal is adaptable: 60 mm, 70 mm or even more. As for the thickness, they are either 3 or 5 mm thick. The solid wood used comes from ecologically responsible forestry sources.
