Making its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf, the Lasai 32KS is an electric weekender developed by a solar-electric engineering company based in Spain’s Basque Country region. The word “Lasai” means calm and peaceful in the Basque language, and that covers a program that this powercat clearly embodies... without compromising on architectural choices aimed at optimizing overall efficiency.
Designer Gonzalo Redondo opted for particularly fine hulls, specific propellers, and careful aerodynamics - everything has been conceived to optimize every available kilowatt and ensure smooth and quiet sailing. The carbon coachroof incorporates ultra-flush solar panels.
The Lasai 32KS is capable of reaching 18 knots thanks to its twin 50 kW pods. And thanks to the high power of its battery bank, the powercat is capable of a range of 80 nautical miles at 10 knots.
At the stern, there is a large sun-lounging area. Optionally, a small galley can be included underneath. In the center, a space dedicated to socializing is organized around a table that can easily seat six. The helm station incorporates the proprietary energy management interface developed by Lasai. Forward, there is a second sunbathing area. Circulation is provided by just one side-deck, on the starboard side.
The cabin offers good living space considering the available width (not quite 10 feet/ 3 meters), and this is complemented by a head and shower compartment. The boat is finished to a high standard.
At the boat show, the Lasai booth was constantly busy and four units have already been pre-ordered. We exchanged contact details so we can organize a sea trial in the very near future. Watch this space...
